Our nine acre facility has several individual campsites in grassy clearings around the wood. We are a "back to basics" campsite, but we do have a toilet block with hand basins and mains water.
The campsite is ideal for both activity days or afternoons, as well as for traditional camping. Each campsite has an established fire circle, and there is always an abundance of wood due to our coppicing of the Sweet Chestnut trees.
The Forestry Commission confirmed in June 2015 that there is an outbreak of the Oriental Chestnut Gall Wasp in Farningham Woods Nature Reserve and our Campsite.
There is no public health risk and the wasps, which are black bodied, are only 2.5 to 3.0mm in length.
However, a Containment Notice has been issued, whereby no Sweet Chestnut, including leaves, twigs or logs, can be taken away from the Woods or the Campsite.
